Jenkins stays hot, leads Baseball past Brookdale 13-3
LINCROFT - Kory Jenkins drove in six runs on two hits to lead RCSJ-Cumberland Baseball past the Brookdale Jersey Blues 13-3 on Tuesday in Lincroft. Jenkins hit a home run to center field in the fourth scoring three, singled in the eighth scoring two, and hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth scoring one.
Brookdale Jersey Blues got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Ryan Adams doubled down the left field line, Dawson Smail doubled down the left field line, and Ryan Tan singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
RCSJ-Cumberland flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Jenkins that drove in three.
Lucas D'Agostino earned the win for the Dukes. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking two. Matty Koenig took the loss for Brookdale Jersey Blues. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering eight runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking three. Joey Gallagher threw one and one-third innings of zero-run ball forCumberland in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
The Dukes collected 11 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Angel Rodriguez, showed the depth of the lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Cole Shover and Zach Braig each collected multiple hits for the Dukes.
Smail, Brookdale Jersey Blues's number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in four at-bats.
