Mens Basketball topples Passaic, 87-82
VINELAND - It's been a long time coming for Dukes Mens Basketball. After a difficult 2024-25 season, Head Coach Darrin Stalling and his staff hit the recruitment trail with much more vigor this time around. Stalling and staff brought in a brand new roster to pair with top returner Jacori Williams to return the Dukes to form. Last night, three of the newcomers shined bright in the home opener. Bridgeton native, Jameel Purnell, set the tone with a trio of highlight reel jams that included an emphatic put-back dunk over two defenders. Purnell finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Vance Brown, who scored crucial points late in the 2nd half, added 12 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
The big star was Jamaal Davis. The forward from Absegami High School poured in 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 5 Passaic shots to lead the Dukes on the offensive and defensive end. Davis was as close to unstoppable in the interior as he could be.
Dukes return to action on Saturday 11/15 as they travel to Brookdale for a 2 pm tipoff.
