Mens Basketball roars past Passaic, 83-78
VINELAND - For the first time in a long time, Dukes Mens Basketball has won 4 games in a row. Once again, the Dukes found themselves in a tight contest with the lead changing multiple time throughout the matchup against Passaic County.
Late in the game, the Dukes found themselves down 9 points with 3 minutes left, but then the Dukes turned up the heat defensively to close out the game. Darell Newton (6 pts, 3 rebs) was tenacious at the top of the Dukes full court press with Ahzae'ah Woodard in support. Woodard woudl lead the team with 8 assists and 5 steals. Jamaal Davis and Jameel Purnell would lead the Dukes offensively with Davis scoring 27 and Purnell scoring 17. Davis would add 14 rebounds and 3 steals to his statline. Daelan Dickerson chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds.
A furious paced caused by the Dukes full court press led to baskets by Jamaal Davis and Jameel Purnell followed by tough baskets by Dickerson. The Dukes would eventually take a 77-76 lead on a pair of free throws by Davis, a lead they would not relinquish.
