Dukes rally past Cougars
Vineland- The RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes men's basketball has earned their fifth win of the season after defeating the visiting Camden County College Cougars. The Dukes controlled this game from tip-off and never looked back after building a sizeable lead. In the first half, the Dukes got out to a 15-point lead after outscoring the Cougars; 43-28. The Dukes are statistically one of the best free throw shooting teams in the country and they continued that trend last night. Cumberland shot 15/17 from the line (88.2%). From the field, Cumberland shot 28/54 (51.9%) including being 8/19 from behind the arc. Colin Gill was the leading scorer in the game with 25 points. Malachi Green scored 15 points in addition to 5 rebounds. Ronald Smith, Angel Smith, and Torey Harris all scored 10 points in the game, Angel smith completed the double-double performance with 12 rebounds.
The Cougars were able to have a better showing in the 2nd half but it wasn't enough to comeback and defeat the Dukes as they went on to a 79-64 victory. Cumberland will look to keep the momentum going when hey travel to Bethlehem, PA to faceoff against the Northampton Community College Spartans for a7PM tip-off.
