Dukes win road matchup vs. Roadrunners
SEWELL- The RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes are back in the win column after a hard fought matchup vs. cross-county rival RCSJ- Gloucester Roadrunnerss. The Dukes jumped out to an early 39-22 half time lead and never looked back. Colin Gill and Ja'Maine Hawkins-Davenport were the leading scorers in the game with 20 points a piece. Hawkins-Davenport shot 70% from the field (7-10) while bringing down 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Gill also added a rebound and assist to his stat line. Malachi Green provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and 3 rebounds.The Roadrunners would go on to outscore the Dukes in the 2nd half;37-34 but it was not enough for the victory as the Dukes win by a final score of 73-59. Cumberland shot 50% from the field (28-56) and 52.9% (9-17) from behind the arc. This victory was Cumberland's first GSAC win of the year and second win in Region 19.
Head Coach Darrin Stalling and his team will look to add their fourth win of the year this weekend (1-14) when they travel to Salem Community College to face the Mighty Oaks for a 12PM tip-off.
