Dukes basketball eager for 2nd half of season
VINELAND- Though the 2022-2023 season has not gotten off to the start that the RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes envisioned, the team is still eager to get back on the court in 2023. Cumberland has a modest 2 victories to start the year, but their win and loss record does not tell the full story. Six of the Dukes losses have come by a margin of victory by opponents of 5 points or less; with most of their games coming down to the last few minutes of the game.
Individually, a few Dukes have made their name known around Region 19. One of those student-athletes is Colin Gill. The 2022 Kingsway graduate has had a terrific start to the season. Currently, Gill is averaging a team-best 18.5 points per game while averaging 3 rebounds and assists per game. Gill is also shooting 83% from the free throw line. Another Duke that is contributing is 2nd year student-athlete and Richard Bland College transfer, Jermaine Hawkins-Davenport. Hawkins-Davenport is averaging 15.4 points a game, while shooting 57.7% from the field and 80% from the free throw line.
Cumberland will return to action when they host the Mercer County Community College Vikings on Tuesday, January 10th at 6PM. For all updates on Duke's men's basketball and all other athletic programs, follow us on all social media platforms (GoRCDukes).
