Dukes come up short vs cross-county rival Roadrunners
Vineland- Cross county rivals RCSJ-Cumberland and RCSJ-Gloucester took the the court for their first matchup of the 2022 season on Tuesday night. Over the past few years this matchup has been very competitive between these two programs. Last season the Roadrunners and Dukes split their two games with Gloucester taking game 1 at Rowan University before the Dukes won game 2 with a 79-76 outcome.
In the first half the Dukes battled with the Roadrunners, exchanging baskets on both sides of the court. The Roadrunners would hold a narrow 2 point advantage going into the half. With 2 minutes remaining in the 2nd half, Cumberland and Gloucester were deadlocked at 64 points apiece. Gloucester would go on a 4-0 run to take a 68-64 lead. Cumberland was bale to narrow the margin but would never tie or regain the lead as the Roadrunners went on to win 71-66. Colin Gill lead all scorers on the night with 31 points. Torey Harris added 16 points in the game as well.
