Dukes fall to Mighty Oaks in 1-point game
VINELAND- The RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes drop another hard-fought game to a familiar Region 19 opponent, the Mighty Oaks. This game is one of many contests that the Dukes came up just short at the end. Heading into the game, both Cumberland and Salem came in with 1 win a piece. The two teams looked to be matched up evenly and the final box score reflected that as well.
In the first half, Cumberland would lead the Mighty Oaks by 5 points in a 1st half that saw both teams have the lead for a stretch of time. The Mighty Oaks would mainly stick to their starting 5 for most of the game to propel them to victory, 76-75. Ja'Maine Hawkins-Davenport was the Dukes leading scorer with 26 points. Hawkins-Davenport also accumulated 4 rebounds and 2 assists on the night. Malachi Green contributed 12 points and had 5 assists. As a team, Cumberland shot 52.7% from the field and 61.9% from the free throw line.
Cumberland will look for their 2nd win of the 2022 season this Thursday when they host the Community College of Philadelphia at 6PM. For all updates on Duke's men's basketball and all other athletic programs, follow us on all social media platforms (GoRCDukes).
