Ocean County edges out win vs Dukes
VINELAND- The RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes returned to action this past Tuesday when they hosted familiar Region 19 foe, the Ocean County College Vikings. The first half would belong to Ocean County as they jumped ahead to a 8-point lead at the half. Cumberland would go into the locker room trailing 45-37 at the half.
Cumberland would come out of halftime with a few adjustments that immediately brought them back into the game. One of those adjustments was bringing in 2nd year player, Ronald Smith. Smith provided just the spark the Dukes needed off the bench as he accumulated 9 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Leading scorer Malachi Green would also take part in the Dukes 2nd half resurgence as he scored 19 points on the game. Cumberland would outscore the Vikings 34-28 in the 2nd half, but it wasn't quite enough to earn the victory. The Vikings were able to escape the Cunningham Center with a 73-71 win.
Torey Harris scored 17 points, along with teammate Collin Gill who tallied 13 points. Coach Stalling and his team will return to the Cunningham Center on Thursday, November 17th when they take on Prince George's Community College (2-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM.
