Mens Soccer primed for 2025 Season
VINELAND - RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes Mens Soccer would set their 2024 season in the disappointment category as their final record did not tell the whole story of how close they were to flipping the record and ending their 4-year postseason drought. Head Coach, John McClain, heads into his 4th season at the helm and he believes this roster may be his best yet. "We're definitely stronger and tougher than in years past. I'm confident we will improve upon last season's results," McClain said. McClain returns three starters on the back line that includes All-Conference goalkeeper, Shane Graham, and defenders Jonny Figueroa, Dom Russell and Rene Barragan. Top returners in the midfield will be Brayden Birnstiel, Donato Diaz, Emmy Tlatelpa, and Anthony Sanchez-Cruz who all saw significant minutes as freshmen last season. Up top, Batuhan Onal returns for the Dukes who will provide leadership at the forward position.
Newcomers are highlighted by defenders Anthony Bova and Joe Santiago, and a slew of forwards led by Jaiden Ammons, Austin Donato and Allan Lopez. Oscar Hernandez, Jesus Ramirez, Jack Schuler, Jesiah Cruz, Wyatt Hand, and Steven Huerta all add punch to the free flowing movement of the Dukes attack. Josh Johnson was brought in by the Dukes to learn under Graham and may see important minutes in net for the Dukes. Eric Robledo, Ricardo Romero, Jonathan Lopez, and Angel Santiago round out the strong Dukes roster.
