Womens Basketball wins on Sophomore Day
VINELAND - A joyous atmosphere could not go without a little drama as the RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes Womens Basketball team needed key plays late to hold off the feisty Bergen CC Bulldogs en route to a 42-39 victory.
Gianna Baldino tallied a double double as she led the Dukes with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with 4 assists and 4 blocks. Ana Patino followed with 9 points and 8 rebounds and Egypt Owens chipped in 8 points. Janessa Marienski grabbed 7 rebounds, majority in crucial moments. Sophia Ramos-Garcia nailed back to back jumpers inside of two minutes of regulation to give the Dukes enough breathing room to seal the victory. The Dukes move to 8-9 overall on the season and are now in control of their postseason destiny.
The Dukes honored their second year players at halftime where they were able to celebrate their accomplishments and wish them well on their future academic and athletic ventures. The players honored are listed below:
