Spartans eliminate Dukes in 1st round of playoffs

Bethlehem,PA - The RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes softball team traveled to Bethlehem, PA to faceoff against the Northampton Community College Spartans for a best of 3 series. The winner of the series would advance to the Region XIX final four tournament this upcoming weekend. 

The Spartans would win game 1 of the series, 7-2. Gianna Fisk and Mollie Reece led the way offensively as Fisk collected 2 hits and Reece deposited a homerun and 2 RBI's. In the circle, Karly Smaniotto and Gianna Fisk combined to pitch 7 innings and give up 3 earned runs while striking out 3 batters. The Spartans would complete the sweep of Cumberland with an 11-3 win. Gianna Fisk added another 2 hits, along with teammate Karly Smanniotto.
