Dukes and Mustangs End in 1-1 Tie
The Cumberland County College Dukes and the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs battled to a 1-1 tie on Thursday afternoon. Each team scored a goal in the last 11 minutes of the game and both teams were scoreless in the extra period.
Sophomore Holly Schapers goal was followed up just a minute late by a Mustangs goal with 10:03 remaining. From there, the game went into two ten-minute overtime periods. At the end of the second overtime period, freshman Angeline Battastini cleared a ball from the goaline following a Montgomery corner kick to preserve the draw.
Freshman Goalkeeper Mackenzie Wimberg had 9 saves. Cumberland records their first tie of the season moving to an overall record of 2-7-1. The Dukes will host Cecil College (MD) this Saturday October 9th at 12pm.
