Dukes Squeak Past Roadrunners

Dukes Squeak Past Roadrunners

After trailing by as many as 10 late in the second half, the Dukes dug down deep and pulled out a 62-60 victory.  Cumberland also overcame Mackenzie Wimberg and leading scorer Alicia Cox fouling out of the game.  With the Dukes trailing by 3 with just over a minute to go in regulation, freshman Kyra Lunsford knocked down the game-tying three with a hand in her face.  Following a missed shot by Gloucester, the Dukes next possesion ended in Lunsford being fouled.  After two missed free throws, Gloucester had a chance to win the game with 19 seconds left and the shot clock turned off.  Then, Lunsford swiped the ball, drove the length of the floor and was fouled with 0.7 seconds left.  She knocked down both free throws this time and the Dukes escaped with a two-point victory.  Cumberland improves to 12-1 on the season and  will host Middlesex this Saturday at 12PM.
