Cumberland, Mercer Split Doubleheader

Cumberland, Mercer Split Doubleheader

On a rainy afternoon, the Dukes and Vikings split a softball doubleheader, with Mercer County CC taking the first game 6-4 and Cumberland responding with an 8-0 shutout in game 2.

Carly DiDonna hit 3 for 4 in the second game, scoring two runs and driving in one.  Gabrielle Castellini helped to break open the game in the fourth inning with a bases clearing double that brought home three runners and pushed the lead to 7-0.  Freshman Casey Kisielewski reached base three times and scored three times.  Rosalie LaGrotta pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and one walk.

With the split, the Dukes stayed five games above .500 and now sit at 11-6 overall.  Cumberland will host two doubleheaders this weekend with Sussex County Community College coming on Saturday and Northampton Community College on Sunday.
