Softball Wins Season Opening Doubleheader

The Dukes Softball season opened up this weekend, and Cumberland took full advantage.  The Dukes won both games against visiting Lehigh Carbon Community College by the same score of  7-1.  Freshman Kodi Pollock hit 3 for 7, crossing the plate three times and driving in four runs.  Allison Riegel added four RBIs on the day and Jocelyn Cintron went 3 for 5, scoring three times.  Jessica Jacobson was the winning pitcher of Game 1 and Rosemarie Barnes picked up the win in the second part of the doubleheader.  Jacobson allowed one run on five hits and struck out five.  Barnes also went the distance giving up one run on four hits.  The Dukes are now 2-0 and will host Montgomery County Community College (PA) on Tuesday Afternoon for a doubleheader. The first pitch will be thrown at 3:30pm.
