Men's Cross County Takes Third at Northeast Invitational

The Dukes Cross Country Team followed up a third place finish at the Region 19 Championship Meet by taking home third in the Northeast District meet hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island in Lincoln, RI.  Fellow Region 19 schools, Rowan College at Gloucester County and Essex County College finished ahead of Cumberland.

The freshmen trio of Matt Crow, Ankit Sharma, and Nathan Mooney paved the way to the third place trophy by finishing thirteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth.  Crow, Cumberland's fastest runner Saturday afternoon, grabbed the thirteenth spot with a time of 30:54.82.

Sophomores Tom Miller and Frank Aponte helped secure the third spot, finishing twenty-second and twenty-seventh respectively.  By finishing third in the last two meets, the Dukes have qualified for the National Championship Meet next weekend.  The 2014 NJCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships will take place at the Bruce Bridgman Cross Country Course in Canadaigua, NY.
