Men's Soccer Upsets #3 Ranked Camden

After trailing by one early in the first half, the Dukes fought back to take down Camden County College, the #3 ranked team in the nation by a score of 3-1. Camden struck first in the 12th minute off of a nice combination play finished by Shane Kumar and assisted by Zachary Bray.

Cumberland drew the match even in the 30th minute when Terron Mitchell (Millville) beat Camden's GK Robert Munday from in close.  Terron's goal was assisted by Josue Guadarrama (Buena Regional).  Anthony Battistini (Vineland) netted the eventual game-winner in the 34th minute when he finished off a pass from Jacob Cowan (Middle Twp.).  Josue added an insurance goal in the 77th minute off a clever pass from AJ Gazzara (Buena Regional) that put Josue through on a 1v1 with Camden's GK.

Brandon Alvarez (Vineland) went the distance in goal, recording 7 saves and improving his record to 4-0-0 on the season. Cumberland is now 7-1-0 on the season and 4-1-0 in conference play.  Cumberland will travel to Sussex County College for another conference battle this Saturday for a key contest. The Skylanders edged the Dukes by one goal last season.
