The Dukes trailed the Bulldogs of Bergen County 15-2 at the 15:15 mark in the opening half. The Dukes relied on their speed and athleticism on defense to spark a 27-6 run and led 31-25 at the half. In the second half, Cumberland could never pull away but were able to keep a pesky Bergen team at arms length on their way to the 74-65 win. Sophomore Hikeem Pruitt led the way for a Cumberland team that had five players score in double-figures. Pruitt recorded 17 points and 15 rebounds, and Freshman Olajuwon Rainner added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow freshmen Julian Brinkley (15), Tyree Berry (13), and Ezekiel Shockley (11) rounded out the Dukes hitting double-digits in scoring. With the win, Cumberland improves to 6-5 overall and 5-4 in the Garden State Athletic Conference. The Dukes will have their toughest test of the season Monday, as they travel to undefeated and #1 ranked Brookdale Community College. The game will tip at 6pm.
