After shaking off the pre-game jitters and a slow start, the Dukes cruised to an 81-54 victory to start the season against Valley Forge Military College. Cumberland took a nineteen point lead into the half despite shooting only thirty-six percent from the field. The Dukes exploded out of the break, creating turnovers leading to easy buckets as they jumped out to a 17-5 run to start the second half. Freshman Zeke Shockley led all players with 21 points on 10 of 19 shooting. Sophomore Hikeem Pruitt posted a double-double, 17points and 11 rebounds, in his return after sitting out last season with an injury. Freshmen Olajuwon Rainner and Tyler Pedro also reached double-digits in scoring, both chipping in 12 points apiece. The Dukes will have one full week off before starting Region XIX play next Saturday, November 16th at Bergen Community College.
