The Dukes rode starting pitcher Joe Bobiak all nine innings, adding some timely hitting to upset the fifth ranked NJCAA DII team, Mercer County CC, by a 4-1 score. Bobiak tossed a complete game, allowing just one unearned run on one hit and four walks, striking out four batters.
At the plate, sophomore catcher Mitch Walker scored three of the Dukes four runs on a 2 for 4 performance including a walk. Clean-up hitter and short stop John Banes connecting on two double to drive in a pair of runs on the afternoon, while Anthony Harrold and Ivan Solis added three hit apiece.
The Dukes looked impressive in their win over a nationally ranked NJCAA Division II team in Mercer, avenging two narrow losses to Mercer on opening day back in February. Not only does this win make a statement throughout Region 19, the victory extends their current win-streak to an impressive 19 games. Arguable the hottest team in the country will look to push their streak to 20 against Rowan College at Burlington County Tuesday afternoon.
