With another 9-1 victory, Cumberland improves to 13-3 overall and has put together six straight wins. Just one day ago, the Dukes beat Monroe College by the same score. Will Latcham (2-1) looked spectacular all afternoon against the Brookdale lineup, striking out eleven batters, allowing only one run on four hits in 7 innings.
In a 3-1 score entering the bottom frame of the sixth, the Dukes broke the game open, scoring six runs. Sophomores Tyler Mixon and Robert Bunton each had two-run singles to spark the big inning. Mixon finished 2 for 5 with those two RBIs and a two runs scored. Bunton had that big hit in three at-bats and crossed the plate twice on the afternoon.
Cumberland will be off on Thursday before heading to Mercer County Community College for another test on the road as they take on the 15th ranked team in all of NJCAA Division II.
