Camden Powers Past Cumberland

Camden Powers Past Cumberland

In a game where the wind carried the baseball, Camden came up with more clutch hits and were able to hold off a late Cumberland rally. Cumberland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the second inning.  Camden then answered right back with three runs of their own in the top of the third.  The biggest hit of the game came two innings later when a Camden batter hit a one- out grand slam, extending their lead to 10-2.  Cumberland rallied in the 8th and 9th to make it a game but fell short to rival Camden 13-8.  This was the first meeting between the two teams.  The two squads will play again at Camden on April 9th.  The Dukes will look to rebound this weekend when they travel to Middlesex County College for their first road test of the season.  Middlesex and Cumberland will kick off a double header at 12 noon on Saturday March 16th.
