Dr. Thomas A. Dwyer, MD, FAAOS, is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon and the President/CEO of Premier Orthopaedic Associates.
Dr. Dwyer specializes in orthopedic arthroscopic sports medicine, shoulder and knee surgery. His practice covers all areas of orthopedic medicine and he has a personal interest in sports medicine. He most commonly treats torn Rotator Cuff and Labrum tears in the shoulder and ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and Mensicus tears in the knee. He is a master shoulder instructor in advanced surgical techniques and the Chair of Surgery at South Jersey Healthcare.
Dr. Dwyer graduated from The University of Notre Dame and went on to attain his medical degree from Syracuse University and went on to The University of Connecticut Health & Science Center for his Internship and Residency training. Dr. Dwyer then completed his fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia in Richmond.
Thomas A. Dwyer, MD, FAAOS is an attending faculty member at Rowan University Medical School and an integral part of the Orthopaedic Residency Program training new physicians at Inspira Health Network.
Dr. Dwyer was inspired to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon because he “has had nearly every sports injury under the sun” and as a result he was exposed to a number of great orthopedic doctors. Those positive experiences, a passion for sports and an interest in medicine are what drove him to sports medicine. Now he helps athletes get back on the field and doing what they love. Dr. Dwyer points to Arthroscopic surgery and the tiny incisions required to perform surgery as the greatest advancement in Orthopedic care today. Premier patients can recover with “less pain, greater mobilization and a quicker return to normal work and play.”
